As you dive deep into Google analytics and start analyzing reports, you would be making lot of changes through date range.Once you login to Google Analytics, on top you would see the navigation menu. It comprises of following menus:
1. Home – Provides access to all your accounts and properties.
2.Reporting – Provides access to reports panel.
4. Admin – Provides access to Google Analytics administrative and management settings.
5. Notifications – Provides notifications.
6. Google Analytics Apps – Provides access to Google apps that work with analytics.
7. Analytics Menu – Provides access to options like User Settings, Help and Feedback.
8. Account Info – Provides options to switch to a different analytics account and manage accounts.
In the Reporting Panel we have:-
2.Reports panel – Provides access to all the analytics reports and dashboards.
3.Search reports – Provides access to recent reports and search functionality to search for a report.
1.Report Header – Reports that you select from the reports panel are highlighted as report header on top of the dashboard, as well as in the reports panel itself. From report header, you can easily modify, control and customize this report.
2.Report Controls – From report controls, you can customize report, email it to your team and stakeholders, export it as a CSV excel file and in other file formats, and add to the dashboard and the shortcuts view.
3.Date – From here you can change and compare two dates or two ranges of dates.
4. Analytics Education panel – You can learn about a particular report by clicking on this graduation cap.
In the Matrix group, we have
2.Add Segment – You can add additional segments to your reports using this option.

Further, the date range is a sticky setting. So once you have specified the date range, it is going to remain that way even as you navigate through other reports and views on the analytics dashboard. In order to specify a date range, simply click on the date menu, and then select the appropriate date from the date panel. You can select an entire month by selecting a blue hyperlink at the top of the months in the calendar panel. You can select the data range by first, selecting the date you want to analyze the data from. And then selecting the date you want to analyze the data to. You can also manually type in the date in the calendar format if you want. And once the date range has been specified, select Apply. The views containing graphs, charts, and other data will change according to the selected dates to display relevant information or datasets. You can also move between months using the arrows displayed at the top corner of the dates panel. In order to specify a date range, simply click on the date menu, and then select the appropriate date from the date panel. You can mark key events in your reports for the perusal of all your team members or yourself only using Annotations. Annotations help you keep track of all the important events and your digital marketing efforts over a period of time.
Suppose you ran a paid Facebook campaign to promote a product for one week. Over a period of one week, anyone who clicked your Facebook ad was re-directed to your landing page. Now, after one week, when you look at analytics, you would notice high traffic on the particular landing page, and you know the reason. It was your paid ad campaign you ran on Facebook.But what if you analyze this report a year from now. You would have run many Ad campaigns by then. It would be very difficult to point out what event, activity or campaign led to this sudden rise in website traffic. This is where annotations are so important. They are like notes you can pin on top of your analytics reports and makes it easy for you and your team to remember key events. Annotations work as a log book for all your digital marketing and design initiatives.
You can also track your website performance by making the comparison between two different types of metrics for analyzing data. In this case, we have selected Bounce Rate as a second metric.The second metric can be selected from the drop-down menu next to the VS. label. You can select from any of the metrics available in the drop-down menu or by manually typing it in the drop-down menu. The color of the dot or the key lets you know which lines in the graphs correspond to which metric.
The information and analytical data displayed in the data tables primarily depends upon the following factors:
2.Type of measurement metric.
3.Date range or time duration.
Note: Make sure the Explorer tab above the graph is selected to view the line graph.
Once you select the plot rows and hit the Plot Rows tab on top of the table, it would display results only for the plot rows selected in the line graph. There are the different way you can display the data table. On the right side of the search box, just above the table, there are table display buttons. Select an option that best matches your requirement. The different types of tables you can display are:
