CONTENT MONETIZATION, ECOMMERCE AND AD REVENUE

Publishers today have recognized the need to adopt and experiment with various content monetization models to make the most of their digital content. While content acquisition and distribution costs continue to rise and advertising revenues continue to dip, publishers have figured out digital publishing as an effective tool to monetize content.

Publishers usually have to invest in digital asset management, web content management, authentication, micropayments, customer relationship management and usage analytics – in order to implement winning content monetization models. Here at DMF, we take care of it all, by providing end-to-end service.

The primary source of revenue for magazine publishers had been advertising. Content being offered online for free indicates the same, but even online revenues are now gradually declining.

As an alternative approach to online advertising, paywall approach has been adopted by a few publishers. This has paid rich dividends in the initial stages. Some publishers, as a strategy, even choose to offer value added services like entry passes to events, product sales and online perks.

Entry of iPads and Samsung tabs has proved to be a boon for publishing industry. Single sign-on concepts lets the subscribers download a same issue of a magazine on multiple devices they own, without having to pay extra, using their login credentials for the magazines they’re subscribed to. Enterprise and multi issue Apps offer a subscription model. The Magazine App works as a container or shell, containing monthly issues of the magazine as and when they are published. New issues are made available for download, and users are notified via push notification, when-ever there’s an App update available.

Back copy of issues and special editions such as ten year survey can be published as a single-issue App, where the magazine is the App itself.
